A FATEFUL BEGINNING

Once upon a pre-pandemic, in 2019, Mark and Monica’s paths intertwined at a running race called Zeitgeist, in the charming city of Boise. As they cheered on the participants, their eyes met, and Mark, a fun-loving adventurer and an avid conversationalist, couldn’t resist the urge to approach Monica and initiate a conversation. Little did they know that this serendipitous encounter would set their lives on a thrilling course!

A few days later, the pair decided to grab a coffee at a cute little café. Over steaming mugs, they delved into conversations about their passions, aspirations, and mutual love for adventure—seemingly kindred spirits bound by their adventurous souls.

As fate would have it, Mark and Monica became roommates, embracing the unpredictability of life and the endless possibilities. Little did they know this decision would set the foundation for a lifetime of extraordinary experiences.

STRANGE TIMES

Their bond grew stronger but was certainly challenged as they navigated the challenges that 2020 threw at them. Together, they survived the COVID-19 pandemic, bravely facing its chaos and uncertainty. They survived the “mask era,” recognizing friends and colleagues by their eyes alone. They endured endless days of isolation, discovered the art of baking bread and painting “kindness rocks,” and learned to appreciate the simple joys of life amidst the turmoil.

Mark and Monica supported each other through empty grocery shelves and the lack of toilet paper. They witnessed firsthand the strain on the healthcare system and the devastating impact on local businesses. They stood resilient in the face of political extremism and conspiracy theories, striving to be voices of reason and truth in a sea of misinformation. They not only survived these strange times, but it made them stronger on the other side of it.

PEACE AMIDST THE CHAOS

Amidst the chaos, they found solace in the great outdoors. They embarked on camping trips, immersing themselves in nature’s embrace and finding peace in the majestic beauty of the Idaho mountains. Monica even took advantage of pandemic travel rates and took a trip to the Galapagos Islands. Shortly after that, they decided to expand their family, and their first together fur baby, Sammi Bug the Wonder Pug, came into their lives, filling them with immeasurable joy and laughter. Their love grew stronger with time, and soon, they welcomed their second fur baby, Angel, who's sweetness and sensitivity just melts their hearts. She is the runner of the family with endless joy for trail adventures. Marks existing "always-been-the-only-fur-child", Payette, of thirteen years, became a puppy again when her two sisters came into her life! She taught Sammi how to herd everyone into the kitchen for yum-yums and taught Angel how to play frisbee. While simultaneously, the youngsters have taught Payette patience and how much fun it is to run and play and get lovin's. Mark and Monica’s hearts overflow with so much love for their little family providing daily boundless adventures. As a family, they explored the wonders of Yellowstone and the Grand Teton National Parks in their camper van, an outdoor adventure they all cherished so much!

Another “therapeutic” endeavor was Mark's 100-mile race. He challenged himself to run a grueling 100-mile trail race in Bend, Oregon, while Monica, Sammi, and Mark’s good friend, Brady, provided support along the way. Mark finished this race in just over 24 hours! He inspires many as he continues his fitness journey and passion for adventure.

HALF A CENTURY


When Mark’s 50th birthday was on the horizon, Monica orchestrated a surprise party that would be etched into their memories forever. The celebration was a testament to the deep love and friendship they shared, surrounded by family and friends who helped pull off the ultimate surprise party, the challenge that he was convinced was not possible! For Mark’s 50th birthday, they jetted off to Vegas and enjoyed a concert, the circus, a “mind-blowing” (in Mark’s words) magic show, and a “mind-blowing” (in Mark’s words) Patriots vs. Raiders football game! They had an adventurous weekend making memories!

THE PROPOSAL

Together, Mark and Monica ventured to Cozumel, where amidst the vibrant coral reefs, Mark seized the opportunity to propose to Monica while scuba diving, sealing their love on the white sand ocean floor 60 feet beneath the glistening waves! Mark and Monica are 1 to 1 on the score for pulling off significant surprises on each other!

WHAT'S NEXT?

The next adventure together is their Wedding on December 30th, 2023, and then an adventurous honeymoon to Costa Rica soon after!

They can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!
